Metcase offering unique 19-in. enclosures to North America

Metcase, the metal enclosures division of OKW Enclosures, recently signed an agreement with Retex, the Spanish manufacturer of 19-in. racks and cabinets, to market its product line in North America. Since many U.S. companies have offered such equipment in the U.S. for many years, Metcase wanted to have a unique proposition in entering the Market. According to Sean Bailey, vice president of sales for Metcase, “We’re confident that Retex’s unique, ‘all-in-one-box’ flat-pack rack system will prove very popular….”Retex enclosures

Bailey explains that, while other 19-in. racks come fully assembled, the Retex LOGIC² system is supplied as a kit with all parts in a single carton, much like a piece of furniture from Ikea. This is particularly handy when a company needs to install a system in a not easily accessed area, say on the second floor of a building that doesn’t have a freight elevator. Having a rack in a flat-pack makes it easier to maneuver around stairwell corners or into passenger elevators. The packs can even be opened on the ground floor and the pieces individually brought to the assembly location. Further, the flat-packs make storage of cabinets for backup or later expansion less space consuming.

The rack system consists of an extruded aluminum frame and can be assembled on site in under five minutes, using the eight assembly bolts that come with the kit; panels and doors simply snap into place with special fast-action fixings. The assembled cabinets can accommodate static loads to 2,200 lbs and dynamic loads to 660 lbs. (300kg). Standard configurations in graphite gray epoxy paint include 600 and 800-mm-wide cabinets in six heights from 18U to 47U and depths of 600, 800, or 1000 mm, all with adjustable 19-in. panel mounts.

Metcase is bringing more to the table in the way of support for the line. The company has designed a website that makes it easy for customers to select the appropriate components for the easily assembled racks, and quickly find their cost. Further, the company is able to ship within 24 hours after receipt of order.
